"DETOUR & FROLIC" AT THE THEATRE DISTRICT
- A Special Dance Benefit Presentation -
HOLLYWOOD, CA - The Theatre District at The Cast is pleased to announce a special dance benefit
presentation presented by professional and student choreographers, entitled "Detour & Frolic". Funds
raised by "Detour & Frolic" will benefit both the Santa Monica College Dance Program's participation
in the American College Dance Festival, and the "Kids at The Cast" Dance and Acting programs.
With a focus on modern and jazz works, dancers and choreographers will present an all-original program of works featuring nine unique numbers. Dance Professor Linda Gold has created much of the work that the college dancers will be presenting. Gold is a critically acclaimed dancer and choreographer who has performed throughout the world. Her program of solos and a duet at the Lincoln Center in New York was praised by the New York Times as having "the scale of an epic." In addition to Ms. Gold's pieces, the dancers themselves have created original works for the night's festivities.
"It's a wonderful opportunity to see a truly eclectic mix of dance and dancers," said dancer Shannon Hunt. She continued, "even more importantly, the funds raised by the benefit will support both dancers working today (the Santa Monica College Dance Program), and future dancers (The Kids at The Cast Program)."
“Detour & Frolic" will be performed on Friday, March 22nd and Saturday, March 23rd at 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, March 24th at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are just $10 each and Student, Senior and Group discounts are available. The Theatre District at The Cast is located at 804 N. El Centro, just two blocks North of Melrose and one block East of Vine in Hollywood.
