Meetin’s on the Porch by Donald MacKechnie Extends Performances through December 20th, 2003

“Lifelong friends... lifelong secrets... through it all, love survives.”

The Theatre District at The Cast is happy to announce the extension of “Meetin’s on the Porch” by
Donald MacKechnie. The show was originally scheduled to close on Sunday evening, November
23rd but will now continue performances through Saturday, December 20th, 2003.

Accessibly Live Off-Line writes:
Macario Gaxiola directs this play as a simple yet effective 'dramity' that brings forth a case study
on how one's life can change while it still remains as it always has. MEETIN'S ON THE PORCH
is a well-performed play, set within the intimate confines of The CAST Theatre. The theater itself
may be a bit hard to find (it's located in a residential neighborhood in Hollywood), but it's well
worth the trip!”

‘Meetin’s on the Porch” was Donald MacKechnie’s first full-length play and he directed the premiere
production of it in London long before bringing it to the United States. It has graced Los Angeles
stages just a handful of times, and this production has been edited to a shorter running time, while
maintaining the author’s intent in its presentation. Director Macario Gaxiola added, “the author
shared with us that he had always meant to ‘get around to editing the play’, and we’re thrilled to
be offering a finalized version of what for many years had been a ‘work in progress’.

On Saturday, October 11th at just a few minutes before 10:00 p.m. the curtain was coming down
on an opening weekend performance of “Meetin’s on The Porch” by Donald MacKechnie. At almost
exactly the same time across town at the Carl Bean House, Mr. MacKechnie was taking his final
bow. On November 16th the Theatre held a benefit performance with all ticket sales going to support
The Carl Bean House in honor of Mr. MacKechnie. The Theatre is honored to provide an opportunity
for more people to experience Mr. MacKechnie’s work.

Meetin’s on the Porch will continue as scheduled over the weekend of November 21-23, and then be
dark over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. Meetin’s will resume performances on Friday, December
5th and continue through December 20th. Friday and Saturday evening shows will run at 8:00 p.m.
Extension Sunday shows on December 7th and December 14th will be 2:00 matinee shows, with no
evening performance on these days.

Tickets are just $15 for all shows. Group, Senior and Student discounts available. The Theatre District at
The Cast is located at 804 North El Centro, just two blocks North of Melrose and one block East of Vine
in Hollywood.
