The Theatre District presents “Not So Tall Tales”
August 2nd through August 24th, 2003

Reader’s Theatre, Dance, Movement, Storytelling and a special featured tale… The Golden Nest by David Muschell

The Theatre District at The Cast presents its third installment in the Not So Tall Tales series, beginning on Saturday, August 2nd and continuing through Sunday, August 24th. Not So Tall Tales is an afternoon production series for kids and families incorporating Storytelling, Reader's Theatre, Dance, Movement and the re-interpretation and/or presentation of classic Fairy Tales. This production’s featured tale will be “The Golden Nest” by David Muschell. According to Director Shannon Hunt, The Golden Nest offers a lesson in the nature of vanity and love. "Matweet — wants her nest to be the most beautiful nest in the forest. Priscilla wants her hair to be perfect so she can impress a rich man at the ball. — It looks like neither of them will get their wish when Matweet plucks Priscilla’s hair out of her head so she can use it in her nest, and Priscilla, in revenge, captures and cages Matweet. In the end, they both get something more than what they originally intended.”

This Not So Tall Tales production is produced by The Theatre District and supported in part by the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. Not So Tall Tales will be directed by Founding Company Member Shannon Hunt, scenic and lighting design by Gail Spinks, costume design by Jessica Learned, and sound design by Summer Spinks. The ensemble cast includes Suzanne Jamieson, Paula K. Long, Jessica Learned, Jennifer Lutheran, Juliana Moreno, Amir Navison, and Jeffrey Smith.
